SOMETHING'S HAPPENING - BY GERRY GIORGIO

Gerry Giorgio is a Chicago artist whose work draws on many influences, from literary figures to music to the art of the past.

"He describes his influences as ranging from Jack Kerouac and Bob Dylan to the Japanese artist Hiroshige and the German artist Erich Heckel. I think I can see that, and I think it's a combination that would be hard to pull off if it wasn't simply in his nature." says gallery director Chris Protas.

All the work in this exhibit was created over the last 5 years, and most has never been shown.

?"Until fairly recently I just drew in my sketch book. I have always enjoyed making art but I made a decision to really devote myself to it a few years ago" says Giorgio, who works as creative director for a printing company and splits his time between Chicago and Grand Haven.

Included in the exhibit will be several large paper cut-outs that the artist made just for this show.

The opening is Wednesday Sep. 5th from 6-9pm with complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres and a gallery talk by the artist at 7pm.

Work will be on view Wed, Fri and Sat 12-6 through Sep. 16.
