"Pop art - art in which commonplace objects (as road signs, hamburgers, comic strips, or soup cans) are used as subject matter and are often physically incorporated in the work". - Merriam-Webster. The inaugural show of the Fire Barn Gallery (18 North 5th Street) in its newest form is kicking off a great year of new art with a show of paintings by artist Dan Parker. "Finding the Image in Popular Culture" opens Thursday October 20, with a reception from 6 to 9 pm. Originally from St. Louis, MO, Dan Parker is a predominantly self-taught artist who studied design for a short time at Baker College in Muskegon. His paintings invoke the American Pop Art movement of the 60's and 70's.
